Yamadamatsu (Yamada-matsu) has a long and distinguished history as a family business. More than two centuries ago, Yamada-matsu ran a pharmacy in the Kyoto area. But during the transition from Japan’s Kansei Era to Edo Period, the family began to sell the “fragrance wood" and associated incense materials to other incense manufacturers. Naturally, this eventually led to them developing their own secret recipes and the manufacture of original Yamadamatsu incenses and tools.
Not only did Yamadamatsu develop a reputation for some of the highest quality incense in Japan, but that very same original recipe is still used in the manufacture of today’s incenses! Now, they are expanding their business and will continue to develop new fragrances, keeping their promise to make high quality incenses by select materials.
JapanIncense.com is pleased to announce that we are now offering many of these fantastic Yamadamatsu scents.
